Old pages and old friends

While I do try to focus on Texas genealogy and the history that surrounds those I research, I love all things having to do with the past. Even the genealogy of others with whom I have no kinship.

I bought an old 1887 autograph album from friends John and Lisa on eBay,  Here is one page with many signatures

This album is from Warren Ohio and has dates from 1887 to 1902.

John and Lisa have many other items for sale on eBay if you enjoy these sorts of vintage, antique treasures. http://myworld.ebay.com/tea03rose

John Grant (http://www.johnthomasgrant.com)  and Lisa Griffiths (http://www.victorianalady.com). Together they have "The Passion Projects" on Facebook.

John photographs cemeteries and has published a great book:

Final Thoughts: Eternal Beauty in Stone

Lisa is an expert on the Victorian era (IMHO). She has also written a book on Steampunk fashions:

You can see all their amazing works on John's Blog:

Old Ad Art 1899

I love to collect the old artwork from the newspapers. Today I am posting a few I have found.

Enjoy!

This was found in the 1899 Corsicana Semi-weekly Light newspaper [Texas].

From a May 1899 ad

These were all clipped from Texas newspapers and the originals were not very good so I apologize for the outcome.
